Once all the nails are removed from the adjoining board the damaged one should just pull out. Windows and doors present special problems. Remove the nails in the corner cap. The new panel you cut the top lock off scribe just under the lock and snap it off trim height if need to fit.

Insert your zip tool into a gap between the section of siding you select and the one covering the edge of it.
