Rigid Foam Panel Insulation Attic
A brief snippet of how and why i used rigid foam insulation for some areas of the tiny house.
Rigid foam panel insulation attic. The superattic system utilizes proprietary silverglo rigid foam insulation panels to fully seal and insulate the attic directly beneath the roof rafters and directly inside the gable ends. There are a few different types of rigid foam insulation including expanded and extruded polystyrene insulation. When installing foam insulation boards in the attic make sure you start from one corner and work your way around the room. Foamular extruded polystyrene xps rigid foam insulation offers foamular extruded polystyrene xps rigid foam insulation offers a comprehensive line of products choose the strength you need from 15 to 60 psi and exceptional moisture resistance.
Products provide superior insulating properties. Step 3 place caulking and furring strips. It is denser than eps and provides more r value with a rating of 5 per inch of thickness. This foam board insulation is available with straight or tongue and groove edges to help limit air movement.
Foam insulation boards can be attached to concrete walls as well and in such a case care should be taken not to chip the cement. R tech is available with factory adhered metallic reflective facers white facers or a combination of the two. This foam board insulation is the rigid pink or blue panels that can be found at home centers in many different thicknesses. R tech rigid foam insulation r tech panels are an engineered rigid insulation consisting of a superior closed cell lightweight and resilient expanded polystyrene eps with advanced polymeric laminate facers.
Rigid foam comes in panels that can be cut to size to fit the area. While all foam insulation products are derived from petroleum some of the key differences include water resistance r value per inch compressive strength facings permeability to water vapor and evidently cost. Expanded or styrofoam insulation is a budget friendly option while extruded insulation has great water resistance and is ideal for use in areas like crawl spaces. At attic systems we typically use rigid foam insulation for any of the following areas.
