When it comes to the bedroom sizing really depends on the size of your bed. Loloi explains that the ideal size for a queen bed is an 8 by 10 while a king would look better with a 9 by 12 rug. If you need to go with a slightly smaller rug it should cover at least the area under the bed and give you a good 6 12 at the foot more if you have a bench or chest at the foot of your bed. If the room is large the rug should extend even further out from the bed but it should never extend out less.

Here are some of my guidelines for determining the right size rug for the bedroom as well as placement. Place the rug perpendicular under the bed with enough of the rug reaching out on the sides and in front to place your feet comfortably when getting out of bed or sitting at the foot.
